About Us:

The Westville Community Historical Society was founded in 2001 as a not-for-profit, private educational organization, dedicated to perpetuating Westville, Indiana community history.

Some of our projects:

In 2002, we built the New Durham Twp. Veteran's Memorial. (Pictured above.)

We have started putting the Westville Indicators in preservative paper and archival boxes and should have this finished soon. The newspapers begin in the 1880s and continue to the present.

Plans are being discussed to erect a permanent marker on the spot where the Lincoln Funeral train stopped in Westville as well as placing a sign on Highway 421 to indicate where the Airline Railroad once was.

Please see the "Contact Us" section for membership information.

WE NEED SOME HELP!!
2 years ago, some of the members of the WCHS volunteered their time to do research for a book on the History of New Durham Twp., from it's beginning through 1955.  Many hours have already been spent on the project, and we still have much more to do.    We need pictures of clergymen, postmasters, businessmen and women, principals of the schools, businesses as they appeared previous to 1955 and some of the prominent citizens and civic leaders of our community. This township had many schools at one time, and many businesses in Westville, Otis, Pinhook and some of the earlier settlements.    If you could share any pictures, or have any pictures we could copy, it would help us so much with the book.    They can be sent to WCHS, P.O. Box 395, Westville, In.  46391   or emailed to our addresses on this website.  You can get further information by emailing:   generalinfo@westville-history.com                                            Thank you
